After seeing the reviews and ratings on Sephora.com hike up to basically five stars, I had to see what the hype was about.
The Sofia lipstick set by Marc Jacobs Beauty costs $45 and has five "deluxe" mini lipsticks, each containing 0.05 oz of product. This set also comes with a patent leather pouch.
These five Le Marc Lip Crèmes come in shades Infamous (soft peony), So Sofia (electric watermelon), Dashing (very cherry), Blow (dark berry velvet), and Boy Gorgeous (berry rouge).
Surprisingly, this set is a deal even with the leather pouch thrown in, since the retail price for a full size (0.12 oz) is $30, and you get five 0.05 oz (total of 0.25 oz) for $45.
The holiday vibes are strong with this one.
These lipsticks look pretty matte at first, but when swatched and/or applied, they give a satin, nearly glossy finish. They're super DUPER creamy and highly pigmented.
Their consistency and texture reminds me a lot of the NARS Audacious lipsticks, which I own too many of, but less matte. The nude shade in this set, Infamous, strikingly resembles NARS Audacious Anita, and is pretty close to Anna. Anna is more of a cool toned pink however, while Anita resembles Infamous as they're both warm pinkish nudes. Here's a comparison photo:
While this is a really good value, I was sort of disappointed by the size of these lipsticks. They could be considered as cute, but they're like the size of my thumb and the size makes me feel awkward applying them. I'm sure it would take years to go through all of these lipsticks due to its high quality and pigmentation (a little goes a really long way), but the size is still a bit awkward. The color selection is not my favorite, even though it's probably ideal for someone who doesn't have a wide shade variety. As a nudie fan, I would never use the hot pink shade (So Sofia) and I would hardly touch the red (Dashing). Pigmentation and quality is 10/10! P.S. the quality of the pouch isn't that great :-(
